Battle of Helghast Gate - Paragon Secundus

The Battle of Helghast Gate took place during the early days of the war for Helghast Hive, between the Rift Wardens and the Ultramarines.

In the morning, the Ultramarines, led by Calgar and captain Ventris, took the main hive city gate with a surprise attack and pushed the Rift Wardens into the city proper. The Ultramarines attacked with the entire fourth company, two tank detachments and a host of outriders. The Rift Wardens counter-attacked the Ultramarine positions with their tanks but were unable to recapture the gate and sustained heavy losses.

The Battle for Utria's Landing - Pelucidon

Points: 2000.

Deployment and Mission: Hammer and Anvil / Inspired Leadership.

Primary Objective: Burden of Trust.

Detachment: Gladius Task Force.

Opponents Detachment: Stormlance Task Force.

The battle of Utria's Landing took place during the aftermath of the Pelucidon campaign. The Rift Wardens were winning their conflict against brother chapter, the White Scars, and this was an effort to bring the war to a close. The Rift Wardens launched a combined attack with many heavy intercessor squads supported by the majority of the chapter's armoured options.

The Rift Wardens task force was under the command of chief librarian Uther, supported by the chapter's Judiciar. The chapter committed nearly two companies worth of marines to the engagement. Meanwhile, the White Scars defending the landing site consisted of nearly twice as many marines and vehicles. 

The battle was a resounding successful, expanding territory occupied by the Rift Wardens and further driving the White Scars out into the wastelands.

The Hills of Mount Sybo - Vigilus Wastelands

Points: 2000.

Deployment and Mission: Search and Destroy / Prepared Positions.

Primary Objective: Supply Drop.

Detachment: Gladius Task Force.

Opponents Detachment: Hexwarp Thrallband.

The battle for the foothills of Mount Sybo was a military campaign during the war for Vigilus that lasted for nearly sex months, in which the Thousand Sons, under Ahriman, repulsed attacks by the Rift Wardens on the outer mine complexes after heavy fighting.

After several successful engagements where the Rift Wardens managed to seize control over the territory at the base of the volcano, the chapter attacked the central mine workings, which had been abandoned and subsequently occupied by Ahriman and his forces. His aim was control strategically located defence points, in order to keep the Imperial forces away from the legions objectives. After heavy fighting, the Rift Wardens were able to capture key locations in the area.

By the time the campaign ended, the front had encircled the entire the mountain, and Ahriman's forces held the most vital defense points against the space marine forces. Ultimately, the space marines were unable to breach these defense lines and the victory went to the Thousand Sons.

Second Battle of Hesperous Gate - Hesperous Prime

Points: 2000.

Deployment and Mission: Search and Destroy / Inspired Leadership.

Primary Objective: Scorched Earth.

Detachment: Gladius Task Force.

Opponents Detachment: Vanguard Onslaught.

With the war dragging out for weeks, the Lion gave orders for Azrael to launch an attack on the Hesperous Gate, which was being defiantly held by the Rift Wardens chapter, while he led an assault elsewhere to breach the city walls.

Azrael's forces attacked the game two days later but due to expertly designed defence works, the attack failed. Chief Librarian Uther then counter-attacked but was unable to defeat the Dark Angels forces present. The Dark Angels counter-attacked twice, but were unable to breach the gate. Azrael pulled his battle brothers back and dispatched a third of them to assault a second nearby gateway. When the Dark Angels forces withdrew in different directions, Uther was able to transform the initial success of the counter-attack into a general defeat of Azrael and his battle brothers. The disintegration of the Dark Angels lines was remarkably rapid.
