Battle of Dig Site Gamma 12 - Omegon Theta

The Aeldari attacked a Rift Warden outpost at a location around the buried craftworld known to the Mechanicus as Gamma 12. The Aeldari planned to annihilate all space marine forces present. Their rangers scouted out the area, it was a hilled area with deep ravines with a few Mechanicus digging machines scattered around. The Aeldari deployed their forces deep in the hills and claimed the high ground.

Meanwhile, an Aspect Host advanced through the wastelands towards the site, using the excavated vessel to hide their approach. Despite sustained firepower by the well trained space marines, the Aeldari advance managed to drive the space marines from their outpost, although poor coordination left the Aeldari left flank exposed, allowing the Rift Wardens the chance to regain some ground.

On the second day, the Rift Wardens occupied an abandoned dig site, opening up a gap between the two Aeldari forces, but found themselves isolated between those same enemy groups. Captain Gwaine used the opportunity to regroup his surviving forces, positioning them opposite the weakened right flank. Gwaine gave an inspiring speech which bolstered the marines morale.

That evening, a Rift Warden strike force carried out a feint attack against the Aspect Host, drawing them westward after a light skirmish, allowing the marines to relocate unharmed. In the early hours, the Aeldari appeared out of nowhere, launching an attack and swiftly gaining the upper hand, forcing the space marines back again. The tide of battle was once again in the Aeldari's favor. Flanking attacks followed by savage hand to hand fighting, pushed the space marines back further from the dig site.

Battle of the Mekon Delta - Omegon Theta

Deployment and Mission: Tip of the Spear / Ruinscape.

Primary Objective: Establish Control.

Detachment: Ironstorm Spearhead.

Opponents Detachment: Warhost.

The Battle of Mekon Delta took place just days after the Lugganth forces fell back from the main Craftworld dig site. It was the a major battle in the Aeldari attempt to drive the Imperial forces from the planet, and a three week long engagement in the Mekon Delta region, which ultimately forced the Rift Wardens to abandon the area and resulted in the alien forces massacring thousands of Mechanicus workers, who were still attempting to uncover the buried ship.

Craftworld Supremacy - Omegon Theta

Points: 2000.

Deployment and Mission: Hammer and Anvil / Smoke and Mirrors.

Primary Objective: Burden of Trust.

Detachment: Firestorm Assault Force.

Opponents Detachment: Battle Host.

The Rift Warden attack began towards the Aeldari positions several miles from the dig site. In the following days, the whole chapter mobilised to combat the alien menace. The space marines overran the first lines of defence and slaughtered thousands the alien foe. Soon however, vast numbers of reinforcements appeared from a pair of concealed webway gates and the chapter was reluctantly forced to withdraw. The Aeldari reinforcements soon outnumbered the Rift Wardens and out the future of the war effort on the edge of a knifepoint.

Wrath of the Aeldari - Omegon Theta

Deployment and Mission: Hammer and Anvil / Inspired Leadership.

Primary Objective: Burden of Trust.

Detachment: Vanguard Spearhead.

Opponents Detachment: Battle Host.

The following was an engagement that took place over a month when the Aeldari forces pursued the Rift Wardens as they fell back from the archeotech dig site. The Craftworld allies managed to secure miles of territory from the Imperial forces because of this. They harried the Rift Wardens on the flanks but could not inflict much in the way of casualties among the space marines. The Craftworlders pursuit lead them to the outskirts of the a Mechanicus facility which, after a brief firefight, fell to them. Despite an attempt to hold this site, the space marines once more were forces to fall back.

Craftworld Offensive - Omegon Theta

Points: 1000.

Mission: The Gathering Shroud

Detachment: Gladius Task Force.

Opponents Detachment: Battle Host.

Agendas: Angels of Death, Drive Them Back and Recover Mission Archives.

Opponent's Agendas: Cleanse Infection and Forward Observers.

This offensive was part of a major attack by the Aeldari against the Mechanicus research stations around the buried Craftworld ship. It was fought over the course of a month, and was one of the largest battles in the initial stages of the war. It involved millions of skitarri, aeldari warriors as well as the majority of the Rift Wardens chapter. It was one of the deadliest campaigns for the Rift Warden, and ultimately the loss of these dig sites worsened the morale of the Mechanicus command.

Battle of Excavation Site 0045 - Omegon Theta

Deployment and Mission: Sweeping Engagement / Hidden Supplies

Primary Objective: Scorched Earth.

Detachment: Gladius Task Force.

Opponents Detachment: Battle Host.

For some years the Adeptus Mechanicus has conducted excavations into the desert wastes of Omegon Theta looking for ancient alien technology. In recent weeks they have uncovered what they feel is a buried ancient Aeldari craftworld. Within days, their excavation teams would find themselves under attack by raiding Aeldari and Harlequin forces. Requesting assistance from any Imperial forces in the sector, they were surprised to receive swift aid from the Rift Wardens.

The battle of excavation 0045 was the first offensive of the war on Omegon Theta. The contending forces were the Aeldari of Craftworld Biel-Tan with Harlequin associates, with enough troops to outnumber the space marines almost three to one. After the Aeldari attacked the space marine lines of communication, distracting the space marines and then broke through their lines. Wave after wave of jetbikes rode through the breach in the Rift Wardens lines and almost encircled them. With the arrival of a monstrous Avatar of Khaine entering the battle, the space marines fell back, giving ground to the alien aggressors.
